short answer: america is shit.

long answer: america is shit. capitalism is shit.

Honestly I feel so sorry for americans when it comes to this. Why wouldn’t you help people get through school?? In Norway you get so much support from the government, and in addition our universities are free. Like education is one of the most important things and I don’t understand the attitude from the people in power

I am an American getting prepared to transfer to uni after finishing my two-year degree at community college next year. There’s only one school in my state that would potentially offer the program I’m aiming for (I’m going into language studies), and that one is definitely not my first, second, or even third choice. I’ve looked at schools in every other state and have come to the conclusion that to attend college at basically any school outside of my state in the U.S. I should expect to be approximately $60-90,000 in debt by the time I’m done, not counting the addition of interest. That’s for two years, mind you.

So, instead, I’m planning to go overseas for my education. Even paying international tuition, I am expecting to pay less than half (maybe even less than a third) of what I would be paying here. That’s with no scholarship, no handouts, nothing. It will be cheaper for me to pay for plane tickets, insurance, housing, and tuition in a foreign country for two years than it would be to drive two states over, stay with family friends, and attend out-of-state college for half of that time.

Our system is so fucked that it is literally cheaper to fly halfway across the world to go to school than it is to be taught in our own country.

is it actually cheaper to live and go to school abroad? honestly you’ve completely opened my eyes to uni outside america hahha I am definitely going to look into that. thank you!! xx

…and many more. Just google “study in” + the country you want to go to.

College is different here, but just as good as in the US. I’m a German who is went to high school in the US and goes to Uni in Germany and I could not be happier here.

you’re an angel.

Haha, you’re welcome! I’d hate for you/people to miss out on this simply because they did not know :)
